Head Coach Sherrie Fraser

Sherrie is a registered Equine assisted learning instructor,
Vet Tech, & Social Worker.

BACKGROUND:

I have owned and worked with equines for most of my life. Working with horses has been a lifelong journey for me along with my belief in experiencing some of life's lessons through the medium of horse care and management. I grew up around my uncle, a member of the Canadian Mounted Police, and an Aunt who raised Warmbloods trying to enhance the breed not breeding just to breed but breeding beautiful talented & worthy horses. My Mother was an avid Dressage Rider.

- I have owned, raised and trained horses/ponies of many different breeds over the years in the equine industry. I have shown/competed/coached in dressage, eventing, show jumping, hunter/jumpers, western pleasure, line classes and pony club (National and Regional rallies, placing 2nd over all on a first time mount) etc.

- As a young rider, I showed horses in Dressage, successfully qualifying twice for the Tournament of Champions and winning both classes on my Irish Thoroughbred named "Murphy’s Law". I also competed twice at the Eaton’s cup, with my second experience resulted in placing first on my Draft Cross named "Gemini". I was a proud member of the Toronto North York Canadian Pony Club graduating Level A at the age of 14. I had the opportunity to ride in many disciplines, Dressage, Eventing, Hunter/Jumper, and participate in many breed shows such as AQHA, APHA and Pinto, including those at the CNE, Royal and Quarterama Hunter Under saddle, hunter hack, low hunter, hunter over fences and Equitation. I have won TBRC year-end Champion two years in a row. I have also, feild hunted and a member with the Toronto North York Hunt Club.

- Completing nine years with Toronto North York Pony Club and continuing my education to become a Veterinary Assistant , my equestrian experience led me to working within the equine industry. I have worked along side Dr. S. Davies, in which I cared for all aspects of his equines, including training and Breezing of the thoroughbreds up until his retirement. My training is in Dressage, Stadium, Hunters, Cross Country and Equitation on the Flat. In addition, my continued pony club involvement enhances teaching practices to youth of all ages.

As a coach I have sent 8 riders to Dressage Nationals 5 of them taking home Champion.

- In the eventing world I have had MANY successful students and horses compete with riders take champion in Entry level threw to training level threw out their show seasons. Sending students to the Royal as well as provincial, national and international recognized shows.

In my lessons you come to work hard towards a goal, so be ready to work hard to get there!

Coach Emily

BACKGROUND:

I have been ridding for the past 20 years. For about 70% of those years I was showing competitively at the Provincial, National & International levels at recognized competitions taking top placings repetitively, not just once. I have represented as a rider for both Canada and the U.S.A teams at the international level. I have also dabbled in some natural horsemanship training and been apart of clinics on natural equine behavior.

PROFESSIONAL TRAINING:

I have trained regularly or had clinics from the following well known coaches/clinicians/ F.E.I & or Judges such as Sherrie Fraser, Anne Zander, Peter Grey, Kate Farrell, Leslie Saila, Sarah Irving, Michelle Cruikshanks, Jim Dunn, Ian Roberts, Sylvia Decorah etc. This has given me the ability to tackle new and different situations every day in the horse world and I have a better understanding of how a rider and horse must connect to get the best performance as well as how a rider must learn to adapt to each new situation and every day is different; ambition, determination and patience is key. I am also a proud Ontario Equestrian member.

I am currently riding under IAN ROBERTS, Olympian, Level 3 Coach and owner of the outstanding DREAMCREAST FARM. He is remarkable in his authentic adaptable unique and effective teaching style for top riders and pleasure riders alike. I Look forward to every lesson with Mr. Roberts.

TOP 4 MEMORABLE WINS:
1. In 2007 I rode in CPC Training Level Dressage on a grey welsh pony gelding Named Lil' Ghost. This was memorable because, I trained "Ghost" from the ground up him being originally a rescue pony. We beat out many high end riders on big fancy warm bloods, Hanoverians, Trakehners etc. that were bred to win. Ghost and I at the end of the year qualified and won Second overall out of all of Ontario Training Level Dressage. It was a huge accomplishment.

2. When I was a part of the Canadian International Mounted Games Association team in 2008, I traveled to Botswana (in Africa) with my team and we won first overall beating out several other countries.
It was a life changing experience.

3. In 2009 I was asked to join the U.S team where I competed for the Americans at an international show where my team and I placed second overall. It was a very big learning curve ridding for another country and learning how other coaches from other countries teach.

4, In 2010 I rode in D-2 D rally (Eventing) at Foggy River on Colbalt, a black and white CDN sport pony gelding. This was a year-end provincial show and Colbalt and I won third overall in the Dressage phase, First In the Stadium phase and first by a long shot in the cross country phase winning overall Champion in Ontario. This was memorable not only because of the title we won, but because for so long Colbalt’s ‘week spot’ was Dressage and we finally came to an understanding and beat out about 25 other competitors that day at the provincial level.

COACHING:

I personally have had students come home with top placings in OEA (Eventing), Dressage, Jumpers/Hunters both youth, rusty stirrup riders, pleasure and competitive riders alike!

As much as this sport is an individual sport between horse and rider combinations, I believe it is a team sport between all riders here at DenMar. I believe in instilling good character, responsibility, respect, leadership, confidence, sportsmanship and horsemanship qualities on an everyday basis and at competitions alike. We are the opposing barn you can count on for help, but will bring the heat in the show ring!
A bigger stronger friendly equestrian community means better competition and more opportunity for all!

I am a realist and yet a dreamer. I'm meticulous, a perfectionist, a hard worker, a planner, I'm methodical and I appreciate every learning opportunity I have ever been given from little to big.

I hope this has helped you get to know me better!

Camp Coach Elizabeth:
- I am the coach that is qualified to teach the beginner/novice students and I also now teach and run the DenMar summer camps after shadowing DenMar's camps last year. I am also a proud member of Ontario Equestrian & have my CPR and first aid!
.
- For my entire life I have been around equines, but the interest for riding did not spark until 7 years ago. As a young rider I have shown at hunter/jumper shows, but in the past couple years I have slowly started to enter into the eventing world showing my show mount in Jumpers, Showjumping & in Dressage shows alike in addition to cross country schooling in 2017 & 2019 in the summer months showing at-least once a month! I also showed some green horses in Showjumping last year to work on my personal adaptability and it was loads of fun!
.

- Currently I am working towards an eveninting season with a reg. welsh cross mare named Molly's Copper Rose this year that I lease. I currently take lessons weekly myself and take every opportunity I can to be apart of a clinic like Kim Webber's & Ian Roberts that I have ridden in recently including on the ground clinics etc. .
.
- I want to be a coach that is fun, enthusiastic, pushes and motivates my students to be the best that they can be individually. The foundation is soo key and I have learned that first hand by watching riders that the sport produces.    .- Over the years I have progressed from student camper, to camp counselor to helping instruct lessons. Now I spend time working with green horses to old school horses and riding every day like it could be the last time I ride and laugh. I am currently training under Emily Ann-Stubbings Fraser and Sherrie Fraser at DenMar Farms, I could not be where I am today in the equestrian world if I did not have these two ladies as my role models now. I am looking forward to sharing my love and passion for horses and the equestrian world with the younger generation of students! - Coach Liz
